SIA CCTV Operator
Job Purpose of a SIA CCTV Operator:
Observe the SIA CCTV and respond to situations appropriately to ensure the safety and well being of all personnel, customers and assets in all business units. Protect the business from all forms of risk such as robbery, theft and fraud, by proactively investigating activity seen and responding to alarms and other SIA CCTV emergencies.
Duties of a SIA CCTV License Operator
1. To operate and monitor all SIA CCTV Operator systems within the control room in an efficient manner ensuring that all SIA CCTV work is undertaken in compliance with the SIA CCTV operating procedures, legislation and the codes of practice.
2. To liase with the Police, other agencies and members of staff by various SIA CCTV communication systems to ensure the most appropriate and effective use of the SIA CCTV system. To include all evidential records and witness statements to a standard acceptable to the SIA CCTV rules of evidence
3. To report equipment failure to the SIA CCTV Contractor and Line Manager to maximise operation of the system
4. To record all events and actions in a clear, legible and accurate written format. To provide an efficient and courteous radio and telephone answering service and deal efficiently with all enquiries.
5. To control access to all visitors to the control room in order to maintain high security and confidentiality of the SIA CCTV operation.
6. To assist with the production of monthly statistical SIA CCTV reports, incident log and camera fault reports, reported to senior managers and members.
7. Communicate with Users (including police and local shopkeepers)
8. To undertake other duties associated with the SIA CCTV Control Room, i.e. dealing with out of hours emergency telephone calls and arranging appropriate responses. Be aware of and complying with all SIA CCTV Health and Safety procedures i.e. emergency evacuation procedures.
9. Deliver the service in line with the SIA CCTV operating procedures and have and understanding of data protection and RIPA.

SPECIFIC DUTIES of a SIA CCTV Operator
Store Occupied SIA CCTV operator duties
1. Monitor SIA CCTV compliance with various safety and security procedures
• Opening of loading bay doors
• SIA Control of access to the SIA CCTV security booth
• Control of access to the counting room
• Physical security of the SIA CCTV security booth (doors and windows)
2. Monitor levels of customer service, such as
• Register queues and Pick-up queues
• Monitor Trolley availability
3. Monitor store for suspicious activity, such as
• Shop theft – customer and staff
• Persons acting in a threatening or aggressive manner
• Refund fraud and Criminal damage
4. Complete all tasks assigned in the SIA CCTV Daily Activity Planner, marking these on the Daily Activity Calendar
5. Compiling SIA CCTV reports for all activities ensuring they are distributed to the relevant person(s)
6. Keep records of all SIA CCTV communications made/sent to and from store and filed managers
7. Ensure filing is completed within the agreed timescale and records are readily available for inspection as required
8. Reporting incorrect information found in any of the CMS files to the SIA Security Manager
9. Adhere to all SIA CCTV Operator procedures
Store Unoccupied SIA CCTV Operator duties
1. React to SIA CCTV activity notifications (pop ups) as and when they occur
2. Review SIA CCTV images post and prior to pop ups occurring to establish what happened
3. Monitor out of hours attendance by key holders, advising them of overall situation at stores prior to them attending call outs
4. Use SIA CCTV remote audio to warn off intruders and other undesirable people
5. Call Police, other emergency services, key holder and other security services as appropriate
6. Complete all tasks assigned in the SIA CCTV Daily Activity Planner, marking these on the Daily Activity Calendar
7. Compiling reports for all activities ensuring they are distributed to the relevant person(s)
8. Keep records of all SIA CCTV communications made or sent to and from store and filed managers.
Candidate Requirements of a SIA CCTV Operator
GCSE’s in English and Mathematics.
Reasonable level of IT and computer literacy.
Able to remain calm and think clearly under pressure.
Able to work within defined procedures.
Good communication skills.
Fluent in both spoken and written English, for dealing with customers and writing reports.
Experience in a similar environment would be ideal but training will be given.
Willingness to learn.
High level of attention to detail and high level of concentration.
Good telephone manner.
Able to work as part of a team.
A driving license would be desirable for some positions.
