First Aid Training
Course accreditation in the UK:
Currently first aid
at work and first aid appointed person training are prescribed and
regulated solely
by the HSE, although
several ambulance services and awarding bodies might be perceived
play a
significant role, regulation and standards are indeed an HSE matter.
The HSE does
currently stipulate that
first aid providers follow UK resuscitation council guidelines
during first aid training.
First Aid
Assessment and First Aid certification:
After completing a final first aid
training assessment, successful first aid candidates receive an HSE
approved first aid certificate valid for three years. This course is
legally compliant with the current Health and Safety (first aid)
Regulations 1981. Upon successful completion of this four day first
aid training course, first aiders receive certification to allow
them to practise first aid for three years after which a first aid
re-qualification training course becomes necessary.
First Aid in the
Workplace
The Health and Safety (First Aid)
Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and
appropriate first aid equipment, first aid facilities and first aid
appointed personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if
they are injured or become ill at work.
The minimum first aid provision in
any workplace is:
- Having a
first-aid box containing the right first aid equipment
- Having a first
aid person appointed to oversee first aid provision
Remember this applies to all
workplaces including those with five or fewer employees, and to the
self-employed.
It is important that employers have
made arrangements to ensure that, if necessary, staff can receive
immediate First Aid treatment in the workplace. This includes
providing the right first aid equipment and first aid appointed
staff to monitor supplies of this first aid equipment. Having
competent First Aiders appointed in the workplace can lessen the
threat of any dangerous situation and literally mean the difference
between life and death. AAB First Aid Training offers you the right
training with our First Aid appointed persons training course and
our first aid at work training course.
Remember that accidents can happen
at any time and so first aid provision needs to be available at all
times. AAB FIRST AID TRAINING helps you to invest in life!
